Oak Tree Mobility has chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as our charity of the year.
Macmillan provides physical, emotional, and financial support to people living with cancer and their families.
Throughout 2019, the whole Oak Tree team will be raising money for this fantastic charity through a range of fundraising events.
In addition to quizzes and cake sales, we’ll be hosting a second charity football tournament and taking part in the Bristol 10k. There’s even talk of an office-wide karaoke content!
We’ll also be taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee morning on Friday 29th September.
According to Macmillan, there are an estimated 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK. In 2016, the charity helped over 1.4 million people with personal support.
“Being told ‘you have cancer’ can affect so much more than your health”
This includes support over the phone and face-to-face support. In October 2017, there were over 4,000 Macmillan nurses working in the UK.
The charity also produces independent information and resources about cancer.
About Macmillan Cancer Support
Macmillan says: “Being told ‘you have cancer’ can affect so much more than your health – it can also affect your family, your job, even your ability to pay the bills. But you’re still you. We get that. And, after over 100 years of helping people through cancer, we get what’s most important: that you’re treated as a person, not just a patient.
“It’s why we’ll take the time to understand you and all that matters to you, so we can help you get the support you need to take care of your health, protect your personal relationships and deal with money and work worries.
“We’re here to help you find your best way through from the moment of diagnosis, so you’re able to live life as fully as you can. For information, support or just someone to talk to, call 0808 808 00 00 or visit www.macmillan.org.uk.”
